Site visit at Kenya Petroleum Refineries Limited facilities in Mombasa

As a part of carrying out a contract with Kenyan company Kenya Pipeline Company Limited JHG Group visited Changamwe and Kipevu Oil Terminal, Mombasa, Kenya.

JGH Group is leader in a joint venture together with Kenyan companies Lex Oilfield Solutions Limited and Comacon Limited. The Joint venture is installing pipeworks and pumps at Kenya Petroleum Refinery Limited’s refinery in the coastal town of Mombasa.

The refinery is no longer being used as a refinery but as a shipping hub for the crude oil from the oil fields in Turkana 800 kilometres from Mombasa.

JGH Group has been working in site for a longer period. In August 2019 when president Uhuru Kenyatta flag off the first shipment of crude oil from the Mombasa refinery. 

Currently work is being done around Kenya Petroleum Refiners Limited tanks 101, 103 and 104. The work involve inter connecting the tanks with a 24” pipeline and connecting to the main Crude Oil Pipeline that will trade crude oil from the tanks to the jetty and loading into vessels.

The 24” pipeline is being welded with 10% of all joints x-rayed and steam jacketed.

The work is expected to be completed in April 2020.
